Mr. Shelley Salehin has been serving as the Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Chennai since 2021. He has been appointed as the 1st Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner for South India.

He formerly served as the Director (Personnel, Policy and Organization) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka. Before joining back at the Ministry in the middle of 2018, he served in different diplomatic assignments i.e., at the Bangladesh Embassy in Ankara, Turkey, and at the Bangladesh Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva as First Secretary and then Counsellor. 

A career diplomat, Mr. Shelley Salehin joined the Bangladesh Foreign Service in 2005. Mr. Salehin served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in different capacities i.e., in the United Nations & HR, International Organizations, Americas, East Asia & Pacific, and Administration.  

Mr. Salehin attended MAG Osmani Medical College and graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). He later completed Masters of Population Sciences from the University of Dhaka. Mr. Salehin also obtained MA in International Affairs & Diplomacy from the Australian National University (ANU), Canberra, Australia.

The areas of expertise of Mr. Salehin include multilateral issues such as international peace, disarmament and non-proliferation, security and strategic issues, human rights, international development cooperation, global health, democracy and governance, as well as Human Resources & financial Management

He is married and blessed with two sons.
