General Instructions for E-Passport



General guidelines for applying E-Passport for Bangladeshi citizens are as follows:


1. Applications must be done through online (Apply online on https://www.epassport.gov.bd/ link),


2. While applying for E-Passports, attaching photos/submission of attested documents are not required,


3. Printed copy of the application form and Appointment slip generated after online application with barcode should be submitted (Use adobe acrobat reader),


4. Applicants must have National Identity (NID) Card and/or 17-digit Online Birth Registration Certificate (BRC) while applying for E-Passport:

a.  For applicants below 18 years, 17-digit Online Birth Registration Certificate (BRC),

b. For applicants of 18-20 years, National Identity (NID) Card/17-digit Online Birth Registration Certificate (BRC),

c. For applicants above 20 years, National Identity (NID) Card/17-digit Online Birth Registration Certificate (BRC),


5. Information inserted in the online application form should be in accordance with the National Identity (NID) Card and/or 17-digit Online Birth Registration Certificate (BRC),


6. Present address column of the online E-Passport application form should be filled with the current Indian address of the applicant while permanent address column of the online E-Passport application form should be filled with the Bangladesh address,


7. For the applicant below 18 years age, National Identity (NID) Card number of Father/Mother should be mentioned in the appropriate column of the online application form,


8. In case of adoption/guardianship, photocopy of the order of adoption/guardianship issued by Security Services Division, Ministry of Home Affairs, Bangladesh,


9. Police Clearance is required for first time issuance of E-Passport. So, in emergency contact column of the form Bangladeshi address with contact number must be provided,


10. Applicants with Machine-Readable Passport (MRP)/E-Passport (for reissue) must bring the original passport at the Mission,


11. If the applicants age is less than Six (06) years, 02(two) recent 3R-size photos in gray background lab printed,


12. Government officials of Bangladesh should submit Government Order/No objection Certificate/Testimonial/Post Retirement Leave Order/Pension Order which should be uploaded in the issuing authority’s own website,


13. Original copy of Marriage Certificate/Divorce Letter (verifiable),


14. In case of lost/stolen passport, the applicant should contact nearest police station immediately and file General Diary/First Information Report (FIR) and original copy of the same must be submitted to the Mission while applying for new passport,


15. During office hours biometric information should be taken between 1000-1200 hrs and delivery of the passports will be done between 1400-1600 hrs,
